Shelly and Kiersten Graham are bringing a taste of the Texas coffee scene to Kansas City with Summer Moon. The mother-daughter duo from Overland Park fell in love with the coffee company during a visit to Austin and became the first owners outside of the Lone Star State when they opened the doors to a shop of their own in January. So, what’s all the hype about? Summer Moon’s beans are roasted in wood-fired brick ovens, giving them a smooth, not acidic, flavor. Plus, there’s Moon Milk, a signature sweet cream with a top-secret recipe you’ll find in a variety of Summer Moon’s lattes. The Overland Park outpost (9127 Metcalf Avenue) also serves up treats from Scratch Bakery, Heirloom Bakery & Hearth, and Emily Kate’s Bakery for a dose of local flavor.
