By The Numbers: Boulevardia

Raise your glass of Boulevard beer high, Kansas City—because that’s exactly what half of the city will be doing this weekend at the 6th Annual Boulevardia urban street fair. With more live performances and food vendors than ever, this festival—which starts Friday—is shaping up to be their biggest yet.

Matney

To celebrate all the upcoming shenanigans, we pinged Boulevardia president Nathan Matney and bombarded him with all our insipid By The Numbers questions. Let’s just say there may or may not have been beer involved when he answered ‘em.

Year Boulevardia began:
2014

Number of attendees on average each year: 40,000+.

Number of beers poured at Boulevardia in 2018: 99,888. Thanks, Bou Lou!

Kegs of beer you anticipate going through this year: All of them!

Number of carnival rides taken in 2018:
4,269. That’s a lot of rounds around the Ferris Wheel.

Number of food vendors within the Boulevardia festival grounds this year: 31 different food options are on the menu—including food trucks, food vendors, Stockyards District restaurants, and Hy-Vee Arena restaurants. Two words: come hungry!

Number of local vendors, musicians, artists, and non-profit organizations onsite at the festival: Over 100! We’re excited to have more local businesses onsite than ever in 2019.

Amount Boulevardia donated to charity in 2018: $66,980.15. Thanks to our patrons, this amount was donated to the onsite charities who receive all tips at the bars. As a non-profit, Boulevardia tries to give back as much as possible to the Kansas City community.

Number of local charities benefitting from tips at the Boulevardia Bars: 12—including Cultivate KC, Greater Kansas City Fire Fighters Local 42-Community Assistance, Kansas City Biermeisters, KCOI Boulevard Bike Team, KC Pet Project, Midwest Music Foundation, Missouri Pit Bull Rescue, Quixotic Foundation, Social Heart, The Animal Rescue Alliance, Veteran’s Community Project and ZZ Hops.

Number of states represented by attendees to Boulevardia since 2014:
49. We’re excited to hopefully hit 50 this year and welcome our first resident from Vermont.

Number of performers in 2019: 53 performers on three different stages and in our Silent Disco. Who is ready to dance?

Number of beers available at Taps & Tastes, the food and beer festival taking place inside Boulevardia on Saturday, June 15: 191 different beers from nearly 60 breweries will be poured during the special experience located inside Hale Arena. (Did we mention it is air conditioned?) Get your tickets while you can!

Number of volunteers at Boulevardia this year: 1,264. It takes a village! Boulevardia would not be possible without our extremely hard-working volunteers, committee and board members.

Date you’ll start planning for Boulevardia 2020:
Yesterday.

Number of Boulevardia crew who will call in sick the Monday after Boulevardia: 0. We’re still cleaning up!

Number of tons of waste diverted at Boulevardia each year: 8 tons of compost, recycling, and glass are diverted from the festival. Keeping Boulevardia green and our landfills empty is one of our main priorities.
