IN Kansas City Staff Picks: March 2024

What is the IN Kansas City magazine staff obsessed with these days?

I recently became obsessed with the Everyday Bowl—warm quinoa heated with a little coconut milk, topped with Greek yogurt, bananas, blueberries, and peanut butter finished with a drizzle of honey, and a sprinkling of coconut flakes—available at The Filling Station! I’m a huge foodie, and I love breakfast, and this one took me by surprise.

Every time I have an upcoming hair appointment at Flock Salon and Gallery, I know I’m going to walk out feeling like a million bucks! Arlen Wickstrum is a hair genius, but I feel just as good on the inside since he has me laughing the entire time! This funky Crossroads salon is my happy place.

Lately, my family’s Saturday morning routine has been to visit the French Market for their curry chicken salad on a baguette. We wait for the WheatFields bakery bread delivery at 11 a.m.

Sending a text is easy, but if you really want to show someone how much they mean to you, nothing beats a handwritten note! I absolutely love these watercolor notecards from Cuorebella. The Wildflower Alphabet notecards come in a set of 8 for $24.

Modern Market Eatery is so good that my boyfriend and I have been driving from NKC to Prairie Village to get it! I’m so glad they just opened a spot downtown. Currently my favorite bowl is the Baja blackened chicken bowl—always with extra-creamy jalapeño lime dressing of course!
