A Thriving Lifestyle for Active Adults at The Isaac

Imagine elegance, adventure, and a sense of belonging—right at your front door. The Isaac, an Overland Park apartment community designed for active adults aged 55 and older, has raised the bar on a new type of lifestyle. Find comfort inside The Isaac’s modern home designs, get social at a cooking class or happy hour, or nourish yourself at the pool or painting class. It’s your life, and The Isaac will help you live it your way.

Active adult living has become more prevalent in the past six or seven years, according to vice president and partner of Price Brothers Lena Price. “It’s really evolved,” she says. “It’s specific to what the market is seeking in a particular city, but it came about because of the baby boomer generation.” People are living longer than they were just ten years ago, remarks Price. “And these are people who don’t want to have the responsibility of home ownership anymore.”

“We’re seeing a growing number of 55 and older adults want a different lifestyle now. They’ve lived in their homes, taken care of their houses, their families, and now it’s time to take care of themselves,” says regional property manager Sarah Williams. “It’s time to live some of their best years with a true community around them. Our residents are friends—it’s a true community before they even move in.” Other similar concepts lack the buzz of The Isaac, something Williams emphasizes their residents want. “They’re looking for that engagement to stay busy.”

Passion is what hits first upon entering The Isaac—not only for the building or the company but for the residents. “We really embrace always keeping that spirit of play around,” says Williams. “It’s very important to stay young, and The Isaac provides that energy.” With lots of senior housing options around, it’s the sense of community that gives this gem its shine. As people move out of their homes, they’re still looking for space and a sense of camaraderie. “Whether they’re playing bridge, billiards or they’re just hanging out and having a glass of wine with a friend, taking a swim class or an indoor exercise class, they love the community,” says Price.

Everything about The Isaac is steeped in meaning and Kansas City history. The Isaac itself borrows its name from the man who started the company, the grandfather of Lena Price. “We’ve named our floor plans and our Amenity Spaces after what’s been going on in Kansas City over the last 100 years in the music, art, and sports scenes,” says Price. “So it’s very Kansas City-focused.”

The Isaac’s model is holistic—a “mind, body, and spirit” combination, according to Price. The indoor pool was voted the number one choice of amenity by residents, but residents enjoy a number of creative and intellectual pursuits. “We say, ‘It’s your time, your way,’ and that’s a really great phrase we’re sticking to,” says Williams. Additional amenities include a pub called Charlie’s Pub, a full-service spa, a chef’s kitchen and dining areas available for private events, fitness trainers, concierge services, and a dog spa. “I mean, I want to live there now,” says Williams.

Price has seen a rise in the age of tenants at The Isaac and their other active adult properties. “People are living longer, they’re healthier, and they desire these active lifestyles. Our goal is to provide that and the customer service that goes along with it.”
