Mike Sinclair’s Photography Celebrates The City of Fountains

The City of Fountains Foundation kicks off Fountain Day at the Firefighters Fountain and Memorial April 16 from 1:00 – 2 p.m. I don’t know if everyone in the metro area has a favorite fountain, but I have a few. Thanks to local photographer Mike Sinclair, we can enjoy some of Kansas City’s fountains every day without leaving the house.

Sinclair has captured the fountain and pool in Gillham Park, and the fountain in the rose garden at Loose Park in both warm months and cold. While it’s easy to enjoy the breaths of spring, the stark chill of the pale winter photographs are my favorite.

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art cannot take a bad picture, and Sinclair’s photograph of the One Sun/34 Moons-titled reflecting pool, which features someone who appears to be cleaning the fountain, is delightfully engaging.

Sinclair’s photography is available through Haw Contemporary.
