You can find Effing Candle Co.’s candles at many retail locations, including Made in KC, Fetch, and the West Bottoms Plant Company, but their Kansas City brick-and-mortar has everything from wax melts to slow-burning wax candles featuring their signature wooden wicks. We can’t stop sniffing the boozy Drunken Elves candle with notes of roasted chestnut and rum.

This Kansas City-based small business is working toward its B Corp Certification, and its holiday collection is a seasonal must-have. We’re burning their First Snow candle, a luxurious blend of pine and cedarwood with cashmere.
The Corner Candleshop
This unfairly cute candle shop is tucked into a cozy corner in Brookside, selling holiday gifts like Santa votive holders and mug candles. While Plaza Lights was their signature scent for November, we love the coming holiday scents, including the Candy Cane candle tin.
KCMOCO Candles
Find KCMOCO’s soy, coconut, and beeswax blended candles at several local retailers, including the American Jazz Museum and Made in KC locations. The luxury candles aren’t specifically seasonal, but you can take home a different scent for each favorite KC neighborhood, such as Union Station, City Market, and 18th and Vine.
