This Weekend IN Kansas City: August 25-27

Up-Down Backyard BBQ August 26
It’s time for a backyard vibe at Up-Down’s last summer barbecue. They’ll have all the classics—a bar full of arcade games, sure, plus grilled-out hot dogs and cranked-up tunes to enjoy the last of the heat (hopefully). Yard games and cocktail specials on site.

Kemper Museum Block Party August 26
You can never have too many block parties—that’s our philosophy and Kemper Art Museum’s. Say goodbye to the summer exhibitions with some local food, music, and drinks before settling in for a night of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on the lawn.

We Care KC Brunch August 26
Brunching for a cause? Don’t tease me with a good time. The Hotel Kansas City hosts KC Care’s first-ever in-person We Care KC Brunch, elevating brunch from punch and pancakes to an elegant event discussing the mission of KC Care.

Mr. D’s Donut Con August 27
A Con for people who aren’t into Cons—it’s Mr. D’s One-Day Donut Con! Co-hosted with local artist Deirdra Rayanne Illustration, this four-hour event is all about connecting, supporting each other, and shopping local. Artists, vendors, and do I need to say donuts? See you there.

Strawberry Hill & Downtown KCK Hike August 27
For the athletic among us, Urban Hikes KC offers a unique look at some of Kansas City’s rich heritage. The KCK hike walks through over 30 points of interest, including Strawberry Hill’s beautiful homes and the Wyandot National Burying Ground. With an average time of 3.5 hours, the four- to five-mile hike leaves plenty of time to enjoy beautiful murals and underappreciated landscapes.
