This Weekend IN Kansas City: 12/17-19

As we near Christmas, there are lots of holiday performances and events. These are the ones you’ll want on your radar.

Kansas City Chorale Presents Benjamin Britten: Saint Nicolas December 17

The Kansas City Chorale will be joined by percussion, organ, piano, and the Lawrence Children’s Choir for this holiday concert. Composer Benjamin Britten’s cantata will offer audience members a retelling of Nicolas of Myra’s story, which inspired Santa Claus. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required.

Kansas City Symphony Presents Christmas Festival December 17

One of Kansas City’s grandest holiday concerts returns. Kansas City Symphony and Symphony Chorus will present stunning musical arrangements of classic Christmas carols. Broadway star Ashley Brown will guest star in the performance along with one of Kansas City’s favorite performers, Lee Langston. Santa will be there too! Proof of vaccination required.

Christmas Family Fun Day December 18

Head over to the Wornall/Majors House Museum for a morning of holiday fun with the family. This event includes Christmas crafts, cookies, and cider, kid-friendly museum tours, photo opportunities, and maybe even a special guest (hint, hint).

Bar K Ugly Holiday Sweater Day December 18

It’s hard to leave your pup home as you go to holiday event after holiday event. This time you won’t have to. Your dog can join you for this Holiday Ugly Sweater Party at Bar K. Make sure to grab a sweater for you and your dog—there will be prizes. Santa will be at Bar K from 2-5 p.m., and you’ll be able to get a picture with you, your pup, and Santa.

SantaCon 2021 December 18

This holiday bash is for adults only. Grab your red coat and Santa hat and head over to Waldo to sleigh your way through the neighborhood’s top bars. Party sleighs (buses) will transport you from bar to bar, and you’ll have access to unlimited drinks with your ticket. Participating bars include Social, Johnny Kaws, Booby Bakers, and more.
