This Week in Kansas City: May 31 to June 2

We’re heading into one of the best months of the year to spend outdoors. Here are some events to keep you entertained and outside this weekend.

The Prairie Village Art Show
May 31- June 2

The Prairie Village Art Show officially kicks off summer with a family-friendly weekend of art, fun, and food. It’s the second oldest art show in the Kansas City area attracting visitors from all over the metro area. The event showcases artists both locally and from all over the country. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and wrap up by 4 p.m. on Sunday. 

Festa Italiana
May 31 – June 2

One of Kansas City’s favorite festivals, Festa Italiana, a unique celebration of Italian traditions and Italian American culture, happens this weekend at Zona Rosa. Enjoy an amazing assortment of Italian food favorites, great entertainment on the main stage all weekend, an Italian motorsports show, Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, fun for kids, and so much more. Vaile Mansion Strawberry Festival
June 1

Is there anything that taste more of summer than that first fresh, locally grown strawberry. Celebrate the fruit and enjoy dozens of craft, food, and antique booths set up around the Independence, Missouri, mansion. The Vaile Society will be selling strawberry treats. Festival goes from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. 

Union Hill Garden Tour
June 2

From 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., tour the secret gardens of Union Hill, a walkable, charming Victorian neighborhood filled with avid gardeners. Gardens along the walking tour feature everything from spectacular floral displays to container gardens to an urban farm—and even chickens! There will also be live music throughout the neighborhood and two food trucks. The tour begins at 31st Street and Grand Ave. Tickets can be purchase on the day of the tour for $15.
