And the Local James Beard Award Semifinalists Are …

Props and kudos to several local chefs who were announced as 2020 semifinalists for the upcoming James Beard awards.


For culinary pros, winning a prestigious James Beard award is like winning an Oscar. Today, the James Beard Foundation announced its Restaurant and Chef Awards semifinalists for 2020. A diverse panel of judges helped in the nominations that included repeats of several well-known Kansas City metro restaurateurs. Congrats to all the local nominees:

Garrelts

  • Linda Duerr, The Restaurant at 1900, Mission Woods, KS
  • Nicholas Goellner, The Antler Room, Kansas City, MO
  • Vaughn Good, Fox and Pearl, Kansas City, MO

This is Good’s first semifinalist nomination for the prestigious James Beard Award. Goellner, meanwhile, was nominated for the first time last year. Corvino and Duerr are semifinalist three-peaters. (The James Beard Foundation Midwest division includes competing chefs from Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.)

Finalist will be announced on Wednesday, March 25 from Philadelphia. Winners will be announced during the James Beard Awards Gala in Chicago on May 4. Good luck to all our nominated local chefs!
