Kansas City Chiefs Train Hard in the Preseason

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t waste any time. Still celebrating from this year’s Super Bowl championship win against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team started their preseason training camp even earlier this summer. They’ll play on the NFL’s opening night, September 7, against the Detroit Lions on GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Training camp began on July 23 at Missouri Western State University and will finish on August 17. Admission is free for fans, and rotate chances for autograph signings with various members of the team. The team will play three preseason games, a step down from the usual four, due to the shift to a 17-game regular season in the NFL.

Many fan-favorite players, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, will return to the pitch to defend last year’s title, with Andy Reid staying on as head coach. The preseason game schedule:

August 13: Kansas City Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints
August 19: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Arizona Cardinals
August 26: Cleveland Browns vs. Kansas City Chiefs (in Kansas City)
