Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey’s 2020 fundraising gala is going online this year with a “virtual ballroom” on Saturday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. It’s a chance to enjoy an evening of dance with the world-renown dance company Ailey II right from the comfort of your own home.

The Ailey II performances previously scheduled for May 1-2, 2020 at the Folly Theater were canceled due to the COVID-19 restrictions. But now you can experience their amazing talent via your laptop or iPad. While the gala format will be different this year, the virtual gala will help raise funds to provide much needed support to sustain the local organization through this crisis and allow them to continue creating meaningful content for student education programs.

Sponsorships and tickets are currently available. Those who purchase “table” sponsorships will be given a special access code to share with “table guests.” That means your guests can be anywhere in the world and watch the virtual gala with you! Of course, a kickoff cocktail party begins at 5:30 p.m. Reserve your ‘spot’ today!

The gala will begin with the recognition of KCFAA’s 2020 Gala Honorees: Bert Berkley, Marcia and Lon Lane, and Phyllis Washington and Cristina Starks, followed by a performance from KCFAA’s student dancers. An exciting, full-length performance by Ailey II will follow.

Plus, those who make a purchase of $100 or more will receive access to the virtual gala and be entered into a drawing with a chance to win one of three fab prizes:

  • 2 tickets to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in January 2021 at the Kauffman Center
  • 2 tickets to the 2021 KCFAA Gala, featuring the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
  • Grand Prize – a trip to one of 6 fabulous locations (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Jackson Hole, WY; New Orleans, LA; New York City; Legoland in San Diego, CA; Yachting in San Francisco, CA. Travel good through 3/31/2022)

To purchase a ticket or sponsorship, you can do so online.
