Nine Spots to Celebrate National French Fry Day

Westside Local
Measured by the pint, these fries from farm-to-table Westside Local are served with parmesan and parsley. You have your choice of dipping sauces, between classic ketchup, roasted garlic aioli, or basil aioli. Fries can be made vegan with a no-cheese option.

Blu Hwy
The seven-dollar side of fries at Blu Hwy should not be ignored and is served with a roasted garlic aioli. Make your happy hour extra happy and try a plate of these perfectly crisped French fries between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, when they’re a steal for only four dollars.

Unforked
Fries are truly any way you want them at Unforked’s Crown Center and Westwood locations. While we’re partial to the truffle fries with truffle salt and parsley, the fundido fries with queso and bacon crumbles are a must-have, as well. Looking for something different? Their “Not so Sweet” potato fries feature sweet potato wedges drenched in harissa sour cream, queso fresco, and cilantro.

Westport Cafe
Who can do pommes frites better than the French? This seven-dollar side is served with mayonnaise and ketchup dipping sauce, but truffle and grana padano cheese are available as an upcharge topping, which we highly recommend.

LC’s Bar-B-Q
Is it possible to order a gallon of fries? We ask ourselves this every time we visit LC’s Bar-B-Q. Buried in a mouth-watering menu of sides including fried mushrooms, spicy green beans, and okra, these fries stand out as a necessary complement to LC’s award-winning barbecue.

Tannin Wine Bar and Kitchen
Pommes frites and wine is an unbeatable combination, and Tannin does it the best. Served with truffle aioli and classic ketchup, these shareable appetizers will move fast. We suggest two orders for the table.

Beer Kitchen
Meat lovers should flock to Beer Kitchen for their fry fix. The “Stockyard Fries” are topped with barbecue burnt ends, smoked gouda fondue, onions, and pickle relish. It’s a Kansas City special!

Joe’s Bar-B-Que
Everything’s delicious at Joe’s, but don’t overlook the fries when you head there for your barbecue fix. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, you can count on perfectly seasoned fries here—their fry seasoning is even available in stores!

Q39
We’re big fans of Q39’s smoked beef brisket poutine. It’s a barbecue version of the Montreal classic, with hand-cut fries topped with brisket gravy, chopped brisket, cheddar curds, and Q39’s barbecue sauce—a whole meal in an appetizer.
