Starlight Announces Next ‘Alive’ Exhibit with the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

After last year’s smashing hit of Van Gogh Alive, Starlight Theatre is partnering with The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for a second time to bring Monet & Friends Alive to Starlight this fall and winter.

Van Gogh Alive was so popular in Kansas City that Starlight added an extra two weeks to the exhibit. Monet & Friends Alive will offer a similar multi-sensory experience that will bring works from Impressionist painters, including Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, and Edgar Degas.

“With the success of Van Gogh Alive last year, it was a no-brainer to bring back another exciting, multi-sensory experience to Starlight,” says Rich Baker, the president and CEO of Starlight. “Impressionism remains one of the most fascinating and well-loved movements in the history of modern art. We’re excited to partner with The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, which has so many original Impressionist works of art in their collection, once again for this fantastic exhibition.”

Starlight and The Nelson-Atkins are working with Grande Experiences—the creator and producer of Van Gogh Alive—to bring Monet & Friends Alive to Starlight’s Jeannette and Jerome Cohen Community Stage House from November 1 to December 31.

Famous Impressionist works will be projected in enormous, clear images and set to music and lighting designed to immerse viewers into the works of art.

“The team at Grande Experiences are absolutely thrilled to bring Monet & Friends Alive to Starlight,” says Bruce Peterson, the founder and owner of Grande Experiences. “This unique experience will captivate and enthrall audiences young and old, as we enjoy some of the colorful works of art from the French masters of the 19th century, combined with a wonderful musical score and special aromas permeating throughout the venue.”
