Downtown Kansas City’s only outdoor ice skating rink opens for its 48th season with a few changes for 2020: * Admission is $7, adults and children (all ages). Skate rental is $4, or skaters may bring their own. * Non-skaters who wish to enter the fenced rink area are required to pay admission. Crown Center Ice Terrace, downtown Kansas City’s only outdoor skating rink, opens Nov. 5 for its 49th season of ice skating fun. The Ice Terrace season will run through Mar. 13, 2022. Enjoy public ice skating daily. (Closed on Christmas.) Two “Learn to Skate” sessions will be held on Sunday mornings; advance registration required. Group rates and private parties are available. The 100-foot-tall Mayor’s Christmas Tree, one of the nation’s tallest, is the centerpiece for an illuminating holiday celebration. Kansas City, Mo., Mayor Quinton Lucas and a celebrity guest will flip the switch to turn on more than 40,000 LED white lights on the Mayor’s Christmas Tree and around Crown Center Square.
