doob3D Pops-Up On The Plaza (Also, We Clue You In On What a “doob” Is)

If you’re of a certain age, you remember the joy of having certain Star Wars action figures duke it out on the living room carpet. (Or was that just me?) Well, thanks to the modern marvels of technology and the folks at doob3D, you can now have your own personalized action figure.

No, seriously.

The store—which launched in Leawood last year—just announced they’ll be unveiling a new pop-up store on the Plaza starting this Saturday. Yes, Virginia—just in time for Mother’s Day.

What is a doob™, you ask?  Short for duplicate (get it?)—a doob™ is a photo-realistic 3D printed replica of you. Or your entire family. Or your newborn. “We celebrate life’s biggest and smallest moments, as well as everything in between,” says co-owner Nick Nikkhah. “Imagine having a statue of yourself, your child, or your pet.”

Saturday, May 11th is their grand opening celebration and they’re offering free scans, refreshments, prizes, and more. And bonus—enter for a chance to win free doobs for life, a $2,000 value.

The folks at doob3D have taken their act on the road several times, including Planet Comicon where cos-players were lined up to be immortalized. This is their first venture to the Plaza, however.

Note to self: if you want Mom to dress up like Boba Fett, however—you better ask her first.
