Celebrate the Joy of Holiday Shopping on the Plaza

After the sun goes down, things light up for the holidays on Country Club Plaza. Shoppers are discovering there’s more fun to be had after the workday ends. The fact that the Plaza is studded with lights from one end to the other certainly helps in the festive, cheery mood, but visiting the Plaza is also an opportunity to nosh, nibble and shop to your heart’s content. “One of the things that adds to the holiday shopping experience is the offering of restaurants we have here,” says Meredith Keeler, general manager for Country Club Plaza. “The stores are open late and it’s fun to hit happy hour, enjoy some shopping and then finish with an amazing meal.” She’s right, you know. The Plaza has nearly 30 restaurants and bars from which to choose—perfect for grabbing a cocktail before hitting the shops.

Drinks at The Oliver anyone?

Extended holiday hours mean most stores are open until 9 p.m. every night (or 6 p.m. on Sundays) until Christmas. And while the Plaza is bustling during the holidays, you can get in and out of the Plaza’s 100-plus stores with minimal fuss and muss. As always, the parking garages are free. “The evening experience is delightful and different here,” says Keeler. “There’s fun to be had and you can feel accomplished when you leave.”

When we inquired about recommendations Keeler was quick to answer.“ It’s always fun to stop by a few of the new places on the Plaza like UNTUCKit, Monica + Andy, Altar’d State and, of course, Shake Shack is a great way to end your visit.”

In a rush? Want to knock out plenty of gifts in one fell swoop? “Made in KC Marketplace has a wonderful offering of talented artists and makers in town,” says Keeler. “Each area in the marketplace will have something perfect for someone on your list.”

Looking to make your night out an experience? May we suggest some wine tasting at Brio, catch a quick movie at Cinemark on the Plaza, and, perhaps, grab matching scarves at JCrew on your way back to the car? Or—the ultimate nightcap—treat yourself to an overnight rendezvous at any of the Plaza’s delightfully upscale hotels. ‘Tis the season, indeed!

A trip to Parkway Social Kitchen might be in order!

Perhaps you’ve already finished your holiday shopping. (Lucky you!) Remember, the Plaza lights will be twinkling until January 13th.  And—bonus!—just think of all the after-Christmas specials you’re bound to find.
