IFI: Humorist Julie Burton & Artist Carly Rae Robinson

We all have those unique/interesting/quirky people we like to follow on social media. But who’s flying under the radar? We asked some of Kansas City’s best and brightest social media influencers one simple question: Who are some local folks we need to be following and why?

Burton & Robinson

Julie Burton, Humorist, Writer, Chatty Cathy, Kind of a Big Deal

“She’s one of the nicest Kansas Citians you’ll ever meet. If you’ve never met Carly from Carly Rae Studio, I promise you’ve seen her work. If you haven’t, get out of Kansas City. Stop—I’m kidding. Don’t leave us. But seriously, did you notice the beautiful spring kaleidoscope banners hanging up on the Plaza this spring? That’s Carly’s art work.

Carly is a watercolor artist. Her Instagram page is filled with her whimsical, floral paintings mixed with her love of anything that makes her happy. A large part of her happiness is Kansas City even though she is from California. In addition to selling prints, Carly hosts watercolor workshops because she always wanted to be an art teacher (See? She’s nice. Find me an art teacher that isn’t nice). She also runs Creative Mornings KC’s Instagram account behind-the-scenes.

I love following Carly because her art is pretty. And she’s pretty. And her love for Kansas City makes my born-and-raised heart explode. We’ll just forget the part that she’s from California.”
