Mid-America Arts Alliance’s 50th Anniversary Block Party
June 2
Mid-America Art Alliance’s free block party in the Crossroads celebrates its 50-year and continued commitment to enriching the cultural and creative life of the region through funding and professional development. Performances start at 6 p.m., featuring past M-AAA grantees Kalyn Fay Barnoski and Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuser, with DJ sets by Kansas City’s own DJ Ice Kole.

 

The Prairie Village Art Show
June 2-4
The Prairie Village Art Show is celebrating its 66th year of connecting the community to culture and creativity. As the second oldest art show in Kansas City, it has an established footprint in the artist community, showcasing artists both locally and from all over the country.

Over 15,000 people attend the Prairie Village Art Show over the action-packed weekend. The Prairie Village Art Show is an annual event not to be missed!

Midwest Design and Furniture Fair
June 3-4
Open to both design professionals and amateur enthusiasts, the Midwest Design and Furniture Fair at the Overland Park Convention Center offers a smorgasbord for those passionate about interior design. Workshops are available from local interior designers Sara Noble and Will Brown, as well as from the host of Bargain Mansions, Tamara Day, and HGTV’s Design Star winner Jennifer Bertrand.

6th Annual Juneteenth KC Heritage Cultural Parade
June 3
Celebrate Juneteenth in the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District with free face painting, pony rides, balloons, and artists. Pre-parade performances begin at 11:45 with The KC Dynamites, Mac Sauce, and Bikes Up Guns Down. The parade route passes the American Jazz Museum, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Black Archives of Mid-America, and GEM Theater.

The 13th Annual Summer Swing in Westport
June 3-4
Do you love woodwork? How about ceramics? In the market for visual art, handmade clothing, or a metalsmith? This pop-up market brings all types of handmade craft goods and vintage vendors to the streets, along with food trucks, local live music, and kids’ crafts, and was recently featured as one of Buzzfeed’s Top 35 Indie Craft Fairs in the World.

Our Blue Planet: A Handmade Parade
June 4
StoneLion Puppet Theatre’s handmade puppet parade features costumes, street bands, hand-pulled floats, art, and (of course) giant puppets! Starting at 2 p.m. and ending in a dance party and festival in the historic 18th and Vine District, this parade hopes to raise awareness for the need to protect our water sources.
