The Festival of the Butterflies Opens July 21

Festival of Butterflies invites nature enthusiasts of all ages to celebrate the Midwest’s most whimsical pollinator at Powell Gardens. Spend a day outdoors exploring tropical and native butterflies alongside stunning botanic displays. In its 25th year, this year’s festival includes butterflies and moths from Madagascar, Australia, and the Midwest.

WeekEnder: A League of Their Own July 22

Wrap up your workweek and start your weekend with food trucks, a local band, and a classic movie under the stars at Crown Center. Retroactive performs live at 6 p.m. and A League of Their Own screens at 9 p.m. Admission is free, but you might want to have some extra cash on hand for the food from Burnt End BBQ, Cheesy Street, Kona, Krazy Crepes, and Topsy’s Popcorn Shoppes.

Grand Carnivale at Worlds of Fun Starting July 23

Worlds of Fun is celebrating cultures from China, Germany, France, India, Italy, and Spain from July to August 7 with Grand Carnivale. The high-energy festival celebrates global cultures with live music, international food, games, crafts, and the extravagant sights and sounds of the nightly Spectacle of Color Parade.

Mike’s Wine & Spirits Whiskey Tasting at The Normal Brand July 23

Shop at The Normal Brand while you sip your way through whiskey tastings from Mike’s Wine & Spirits from 2-4 p.m. The Normal Brand, a new clothing store on the Country Club Plaza, was founded by three brothers in St. Louis, and this is the brand’s third location. Is there a better way to discover a new shopping experience than with a glass of whiskey in hand?
