A beloved Kansas City barbecue joint will close its doors on August 14, as Plowboys Barbecue’s four founders look to retire from restaurant life.

As the restaurants shutter operations, Plowboys Barbecue will stick around with retail operations under the brand Plowboys Foods, a line of Plowboys sauces and rubs that can be purchased through

Rubs include Bovine Bold, Fin & Feather, The Jerk, and the Yardbird Rub that has been honored by Good Housekeeping and sold in over 30 countries. Sauces include KC Crossroads, Bovine Bold, Sweet 180, En Fuego, Hothead, and Tarheel Tang.
